I have a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving! About this time last year, I was writing a steampunk urban fantasy novel with a friend. As is common in this industry, we started submitting the book to agents and publishers all that time ago. A year later, it is still in submissions and we can't share our story with anyone. Frustrating! I write to share stories with people, not file drawers.

After three releases with small presses earlier in 2011, I had an idea for a steampunk Christmas story over the summer. But I knew by the time I had it done, it would be much too late to be released for the 2011 holidays, though I had excellent feedback from people who read it for me. I thought it was ready to be published for Christmas 2011, but how? Then I remembered how much success my friend Delle Jacobs and others have found with independent publishing. So...I had my novella edited by a professional copy editor, had a cover designed and figured out how to load my story myself!

I'm quite proud of the results and am now working on a sequel novella. Six five-star reviews at Amazon (so far) tell me that I made the right decision to indie publish "Captain Andrew's Flying Christmas" and I hope my story puts readers in the holiday mood.

I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Here's the blurb:

Housemaid Linet Fenna would rather be an air pirate than a servant. When she finds the ladder to an airship dangling outside her garret window on Christmas Eve, 1892, she ascends to the skies above London on her late father’s flagship dirigible, the Christmas. The new captain is someone she never expected to see again, a dangerous, sexy foe. Is the Fenna family nemesis offering Linet her heart’s desire or a dastardly trap?

Captain Andrew’s motivations are as foggy as the coal-soaked sky. Prime Minister Gladstone’s Blockaders, a horde of automen and a teenage girl named Hatchet want Linet to fail in her quest to discover what happened to her missing family, but she is determined to have a happy Christmas.

This steampunk romance novella is currently available for the Amazon Kindle, on Smashwords, on Barnes and Noble, and at other outlets.
