Dressing characters

I've been trying to start my new Anh Leod story for a couple of days now. I got the first scene down no problem, because the characters were featured in another story. But in the next scene a new character is coming on stage and I'm not sure I get her yet.
She's a mid-twenties, wealthy Los Angeles girl in the movie business but not an actress. As I've been reading through my magazines, trying to get a picture of her and the clothes she would wear (image is important in wealthy L.A., right?) I'm starting to think I read New York magazines, not Los Angeles ones even though I'm a West Coast girl and ex-Californian myself.
That makes sense, I suppose, because most magazines are based in New York and that's what is going to come across, even if they are read nation-wide. So now I have to figure out what this girl would be wearing in L.A. in October. Hmmm...
