Paper copies

I am an e-book author (sigh). The sigh may be controversial but the reality is that no one who started writing romance in the mid nineties like I did dreamed that their books would be released in .pdf form instead of on paper. At least I get good quality editing, gorgeous covers, and, when I write erotic romance, excellent sales!
Today I received the first bound paper copies of my first novel, Cards Never Lie. As a friend before me experienced, it's not as exciting as we might have imagined. My main enjoyments were 1) bio! 2) dedication 3) name of cover 4) curiosity on how thick the book looked in trade paperback.
We consider that it might be more exciting if the book was actually a sellable copy, with a color cover and price on the back. After all we don't even have paper release dates yet. These copies are Advance Readers (ARCs). But I question that. We've already had our book release. We've seen it on our computers and ebook readers, we've talked about it in newsletters, we've even received royalty statements because we get paid by our publisher monthly (very, very cool).
Maybe being a paper author isn't so exciting after all! At least that's what I'm going to choose to believe today.
