NaNoWriMo progress

I've been working hard (for three days) to make sure I write at least 1667 words per day on my fiction. If 1667 is a familiar number to you, you are probably trying, like me, to write 50,000 words minimum on a novel before December 1st. Many people try to do more words per day so that they can skip Thanksgiving Day. I've done more than the minimum for the first three days, but not enough extra to bank a day yet. To be honest, I think I've gone through phases where I wrote a lot more than 1667 words per day, but that's probably when I've been really into a story, not feeling my way through the beginning of one.
Today was the first day it was hard to do. I wrote about 900 words at the dentist waiting for my husband (now there's a new place to write!) and then did the rest about 5 hours later when we got home from errands. Today was also the first day I did all my words on one book. I've got three projects going and most of my energy is going into the brand new one, which is what you are supposed to do during NaNoWriMo, but I can't give up on the other two. One of those projects only has two scenes left to go on the first draft! And the third one is the most likely to sell...
Monday will be my first "write-in" at a cafe with a friend. I've been taking my Alphasmart out in public again, and have yet to use it without getting comments. I guess using it is a good way to meet people, since it looks somewhat unusual.
I'm also planning promotions for the upcoming holidays. I have a new novel, Gunshot Grange, out December 6th, and I hope people continue to buy electronic books through the holiday season. I'm joining in on a couple of group promotions that have great prizes, so keep watching the blog for opportunities to win lots of free books. I'll also be doing a giveaway again at The Romance Studio on December 2nd, so make sure to check that out.
Happy NaNoing!
