I received the cover for my December 6th release, Gunshot Grange, yesterday. It was so cool to see the it, because this was the book I was writing when I "got the call" in August of 2006. It was supposed to be out in late September but was pushed back about ten weeks so all the Halloween-type books could be fit in at Cerridwen.
One thing an author looks for is whether you are developing a brand as your covers are released. On my Anh Leod side my first four releases are parts of series, so I accept that I'm not building a brand with the covers. I simply enjoy the series style, which is always top-notch.
With Heather Hiestand though, it's nice to see a similarity. Artist Syneca has done a great job creating a style for me. My three covers all have a representation of the hero and heroine in them, and my name is the same typeface. For some reason the first four novels I sold to Cerridwen all have blonde heroines. That will finally change for book five (In Flight) and it will add a new twist to the covers! Which reminds me, I owe my editor a cover request for that one. Maybe the heroine should go blonde at the last minute? <g>
The Gunshot Grange cover has my first name justified differently, but I imagine that I'll be the only one to notice that! I'm eagerly awaiting my final edits so I can get the book out to reviews and see what they think of my gothic-y romantic suspense novel!
I'm working on my November newsletter right now. Be sure to get over to
