The Romantic Times Convention

I'm back! Didn't get much sleep in Houston, so I don't know how much sense I'll be making! I attended the Romantic Times Convention for the first time. A "con" is a much different experience than a writer's conference, so it was a very new kind of time for introverted little me.
The highlight of my trip was finding out that the High Point, North Carolina library was buying my anthology, Holiday in the Heart, for their collection! How cool is that? I met two of their reader services librarians. Very neat ladies and I know where to go on vacation in North Carolina if I ever get that way.
I hadn't travelled in a year, so I was a little nervous about that whole no liquid over 3 ounce thing, but I did survive, my luggage made it and I only had one tiny delay in four flights. My roommate Gerri Russell hurt her foot on her flight though and was limping the entire convention. She is such a trooper! I told her I'd have been calling my mommy if I'd hurt my foot that badly. Since my other roommate, Judith Laik, got bronchitis and couldn't ever go on the trip I was definitely the lucky one.
Of course, Gerri is a rising star and I'm a newbie so we had very different experiences. For me it was a time of putting names and faces together. I went fan girl on Ellora's Cave author Nathalie Gray, whose new book "Book of Masks" was what I was reading on the plane on the way over. She's such a sweetie and if the picture that she took of me at the booksigning comes out I'll post it here. I also met and spent a lot of time with author Joey W. Hill of Ellora's Cave whose work I was unfamiliar with, but her fans had stars in their eyes so I had to buy her book "Natural Law" to see how fabulous her hero is! I visited with authors like Susan Kearney, Janet Miller and Jackie Kessler. I want to be Virginia Henley when I'm old. Her readers love her and she's such a gracious lady.
Tons of fun was had by all... I got a new story idea and inspiration from Marilyn Campbell of the new
www.thelotuscircle.com site and even got to meet the CEO of my publisher and the famed Kathryn Falk. What an experience!
