Author vision vs. critique opinion

I've managed to write my current book down to the final scene. I've done the black moment, the rescue of the victim is complete, now all I have to do is bring the hero and heroine back together, and get a marriage proposal in there somehow. Are my characters ready for that? Am I ready for that?
This book in some ways has been a fast ride. I've written all but the first two chapters since January 16th, and this has been my first project ever where I've completely ignored external feedback as I've written it (other than the first two chapters, which were written about a year and a half ago, then abandoned while I waited for the first book in the series to sell). I usually stop and start as I get critiques from my critique partners. So it is more my own solo creation that my books in the past have been. Writing fast has that benefit!
So far I have feedback waiting for me on the first five chapters. I did read a summary from one of them yesterday on chapters four and five. Basically, I'm taking exactly the wrong approach according to her critique. She doesn't know that yet, but everything she disliked is what I went ahead and did with the book. People who see me talking about the book can tell which part of it really excited me, and that's the part my friend disliked.
Ooops! Time will tell as I start to look at all the critiques whether this is one opinion or group opinion. Still, writers have to be true to themselves. Pretty soon though, it's going to be time to also be true to my readers, since that first novel comes out on March 8th.
I'm looking forward to feedback from non-writers for a change! Some of my fellow new authors at Cerridwen Press and Ellora's Cave (mostly EC) are getting fan feedback in as little as one day after their books are released. There is no doubt EC has a huge following. It remains to be seen if CP can build such a brand loyalty, but I hope someone reads Cards Never Lie and tells me what they think!
