April in Houston

I'm planning to go to the Romantic Times convention next April in Houston, now that my husband appears to be coping with the concept that I'll be partying with male cover models (not that he's thrilled about it). From what I understand, this is not one of those sedate, official Romance Writers of America conferences. There are costumes and glitter and yes, men! Luckily two of my critique partners are attending as well, fellow authors Gerri Russell and Judith Laik, so I won't be so afraid, though we know we need to mingle instead of hanging out together.
For promotion there, I'm going to be part of a deck of cards put out by my publisher Cerridwen Press, which is perfect for Cards Never Lie. I don't know which card will be mine yet, but I'll let you know. My first book will be out about 6 weeks before the conference, so it's great timing. I also signed up for an RT magazine ad for the May issue, so I'm hoping that will be at the conference as well.
I understand you have to bring the really cool promo stuff to RT - jaded appetites there! My first thought is bookmarks (essential but boring) but then my second thought is Starbucks-style coffee holders(they call them tumblers, who knew?), because I still have one that I got in a basket from Elizabeth Boyle more than five years ago, and we use it all the time. My husband takes it to work and everything! However, I've heard figures like $600 for 500, which is nuts. I don't have that kind of cash.
Any suggestions for inexpensive but cool promos? And where to get them, of course?
