The New Week

I thought this would be the week I finished the first draft of my contemporary Gothic romance, The Grange, but yesterday I realized I had too much to pack into only two chapters. It looks like it will be at least another 5K words longer than expected, because I had the brilliant thought that my characters should have a shot at solving the central mystery, rather than merely being told the solution!

I try to keep my single titles below the old 100K standard, since it seems like attention spans are shorter these days. I remember back when I'd stick my nose up at a book that wasn't thick, because I wanted value for my money. Now when I review books, I pick the shorter ones so I can get through them faster! Definitely a change.

Eilis, with whom I'm sharing a website, has a blog of her own if you're interested in checking it out. The address is:  http://eilisflynn.livejournal.com/. Eventually, she'll have her own blog at CoffeeonSundays.info as well. Unlike me however, she is slogging away at a full time job still, and doesn't have my plethora of free time. I'm lucky to be only working part time at the moment, so have time to share my musings with y'all.

Have a great week!

I wrote my first blog for this site, but it hasn't come up yet! How frustrating!

You're right about attention spans, though. In fact ... what was I saying? *g*
